What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

You can only remove so much coal till the moutain will fall...or squeeze together. Someone has to plan to leave enough coal in the blocks to support the roof . This is what is happening, the moutain is crushing the coal blocks, the roof isn't falling. A local company had a couple of folks killed about 95 or 96 in Harlan County. If you are wondering, the investigation is on MSHA's site under the old fatals, it goes into detail about the design of the panel and lack of enough coal being left to support the weight of the moutain.
